Republican Death Porn

So why is the Montana Republican party sending oversized postcards of a dead woman in a body bag to homes in Montana? I know this is an inflammatory question, but after viewing the postcard, I’m not certain there is a nice way to ask the question. Here is the oversized postcard send to our homes in early March of this year:

Here is the back of the postcard:

You'll note that I took off the personal cell phone number of JP off the postcard. The Montana Republican State Central Committee thoughtfully included it on the postcard. They also sent postcards to the districts of Julie French and Doug Cordier.

This has been remarked upon in comments but not in diary form. In July of 2004, FEMA ran a hurricane exercise called "Hurricane Pam." This plan assumed the worst case scenario for NOLA. FEMA predicted WTF would happen to NOLA with eerie accuracy over a year before Katerina hit. Here is a link to the FEMA report:

Victory! Democrats win House in Montana
Tue Dec 28, 2004 at 04:52:02 PM PDT
The Supreme Court of Montana has ruled that Democrat Jeanne Windham is the winner in the Lake County election. This means that control of the House in Montana swings to the Democrats for the first time in a decade.
Link
HELENA - The Montana Supreme Court ruled 6-1 Tuesday that Constitution Party member Rick Jore did not win the race for Lake County legislator.
The decision gives victory to Democrat Jeanne Windham and puts the Democrats in the majority of the state House of Representatives.
Democrats now claim control of both House and Senate, as well as the governor's office. Before the November election, Democrats held no major positions of power.
The Lake County race had been declared a tie and Gov. Judy Martz broke the tie by appointing Jore. That decision gave Republicans a slim control of the House, with 50 Republicans, 49 Democrats and one Constitution Party member.
Tuesday's decision puts the House in a tie, with 50 Republicans and 50 Democrats. In this circumstance, House leadership is awarded to the party of the governor, Democrat Gov.-elect Brian Schweitzer.
A few great Demo website ideas

Howdy!
I'm running a county Demo website in Montana (http://www.gallatindemocrats.com/index.php) and would appreciate concrete development ideas, criticism.
For starters, we would like a tagline to go above our name (Gallatin County Democrats) that epitomizes our Democratic values. Motto suggestions welcomed.
I have not seen any great Demo county websites, so any links would be wonderful.
The energy is out there, folks. We just gotta harness it.
Vacation Days: Bush days off
Mon Dec 29, 2003 at 06:20:43 PM PDT
This link answers the question:
How many vacation days has George W. Bush taken to date as president? How does that compare with Clinton?
http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/20031001.html
And remember, Bush was on vacation on Aug 6, 2001 when he was briefed on planes crashing into American targets. And he is on vacation today, as well.
Short answer: 250 days or 27% of his term so far.
"Cut and Run" phrase definition
Sun Nov 30, 2003 at 10:58:46 PM PDT
In a David Frost
interview Bush said "We're not going to cut and run."
This made me wonder about the origin of the phrase "cut and run." Since Bush lived in Texas, I assumed it had something to do with cutting cattle but it actually has a nautical origin.
From here:
Cut and Run
Be off as quickly as possible. A sea phrase, meaning cut your [mooring]cable and run before the wind.
To landlubbers (like myself), running before the wind means this:
When the wind is directly astern (behind) a vessel, the boat is running away from the wind. An experienced crew would have watched the jib collapse and whisker-poled it out on the opposite side for the vessel to goose-wing (sails either side). The early warning collapse of the jib would have been acknowledged and the helmsman would take extra care not to gybe the boat without warning, adjusting the helm to keep the wind at one ear from over his shoulder. Many a seaman has been swept overboard or knocked senseless by a swinging boom whilst a vessel is running before the wind and the helmsman loses concentration or the wind flukes.
Bush must have rememembered the phrase from his kennibentport
